The silent health danger Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma have in common

The waters are receding from historic Hurricane Harvey and only now are we beginning to see the true extent of the hurricane’s damage.

Meanwhile, Florida and other parts of the southeast  are bracing for hurricane Irma, which could be the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in the United States.

Raw sewage, alligators, sharp objects, and deadly bacteria are among the most serious dangers of the floodwater aftermath caused by hurricanes. And the dangers of category five level hurricane winds pretty much go without saying.

But there is another health danger that hurricanes and all natural disasters share. A health danger which often goes unmentioned, but can impact victims for the rest of their lives…
